The Scene
He comes into Jerusalem over cloaks and palm branches, on an animal nobody would choose for a triumph. The crowd shouts a line out of Psalm 118 that every person present has known since childhood — and they know exactly what it is. It is not a welcome. It is a coronation.
Hosanna means save us now. Within the week the same city will have made a different decision about him. He rides in anyway, on purpose, at the hour of his choosing.
